I’m interning at a trading firm in the Chicago Board of Trade this summer. I start on Monday. Incidentally, the NATO Summit is in Chicago this Friday through Monday. Which means I will have to commute through the city differently and be interrogated by NATO security on the first day of my internship. This will be interesting, to say the least.

It’s like I’m a fricken pregnant woman or something. For example, I’ve been craving this AMAZING smoked salmon sandwich for the last three or four hours. It’s from this little cafe in the heart of Krakow, Poland where I lived for a summer. I would get it at least twice a week. My mouth is literally watering just thinking about it. Like it had this special Polish cheese on it that I’ve been trying to find here in the US but nothing tastes the same…
Damn I think it’s the weather maybe. This weather is reminding me of that summer. It’s not the heat of the weather (because it’s high 90’s here) but it’s the smell of the weather. I bet a lot of people wouldn’t think certain weather has a smell but oh it does. Sometimes I get a whiff of Krakow summer weather & it stops me dead in my tracks. But for the past week I’ve been reminded of that summer constantly. It was one of the best summers of my life & I would do anything to go back. (And get that salmon sandwich!)
Krakow & that summer really was the reason for declaring my major to Anthropology. Należy zmienić mojego życia.C

All the windows in my house are open and so are the next door neighbor’s. Which is annoying when I can hear their phone ringing but it’s really nice when the woman who lives there is playing piano. She plays so beautifully. If there’s one thing in the world that I wish I could do it would be to play piano. I am so envious of anyone who can, it’s the most beautiful instrument in my opinion.

& I love it. I’m sooo pale in real life because I’m super German & super Scandinavian, so I don’t ever get tan. Ever. (well, unless I get badly burnt then after a few days it develops into a tan). BUT today I got a spray tan (not my first time) but my best time, I swear. I don’t look orange or anything I just look like I spent a whole summer in the sun. Yesss this was my goal.
Okay now I’m REALLY ready for summer! Please turn up the temp, Chicago!C
