Dillo Day is part of Mayfest at Northwestern University. This will be my second year going because I had another engagement scheduled on the same date as Dillo last year (ahem, Promenade). But I wasn’t bummed because the headliner was just Nelly last year. But this year…oh no. I am NOT missing it.
Let me describe Dillo Day.
Dillo Day is a day-long outdoor mini music festival on the Lakefront of Lake Michigan in beautiful Evanston, IL. Northwestern students are still in school and won’t get out until like middle of June, so this is always one of their last weekends to go completely crazy & get completely shit-faced before they have to study hella hard (because, well, it’s Northwestern). The concerts start pretty early, I think, like 11 or 12 o’clock. And it’s basically non-stop concerts. There are usually some local bands and then a few really well-known bands. This year the bands that are completely confirmed are The New Pornographers, Chiddy Bang, and B.o.B (!!!!) I am in love with the latter two & I like the former. So I am REALLY excited for this year. It’s a day of drunkeness and blazing out of your mind & it is just really, really care-free and fun. It’s such a good way to kick off the summer.
The last time I went, which was two years ago, NERD was the headliner. I LOVE them. I nudged my way up front which was wayy awesome because Skareboard P (Pharrell) pointed at me, swear.
Anyway I am really just super excited for Saturday. I hope I can remember some of it!!! Hahaha, I’ll take my camera to jog my memory the next day.C
